Rhubarb Vodka
Oh, yum. I love this stuff.
Ingredients
- 600 g fresh rhubarb, chopped
- 300 g sugar
- 1 litre vodka
You'll also need a couple of really big jars. Test to make sure the lids keep liquid in the jars even when the jars are shaken.
Directions
- You've got two great big jars handy? Good. Put half the rhubarb, half the sugar, and half the vodka into each jar.
- Put lids on jars. Shake jars.
- Now hide those jars away in a dark cupboard somewhere. Give them a shake once a week or so, or when you remember.
- After 6-8 weeks, try this stuff. Yummy, isn't it? And what a gorgeous pink colour it is!
- The rhubarb pieces will look lovely in your vodka, but you want to strain them out. If you don't strain them out, they'll eventually turn greyish, and the colour of your vodka won't be nearly as pretty.
(Recipe found in some cookbook I saw in a shop a year or so ago. But which one? Argh. I wish I'd written down the title.)
