Unique ancient documents to be on display in Tepla monastery

I wish I were back in Prague for this: Unique ancient documents to be on display in Tepla monastery. From PragueMonitor.com:

The Premonstratensian monastery in Tepla will open an exhibition of its oldest documents, including the priceless Hroznata Testament from 1197, the country's oldest document issued by a private person.

"The exhibition is an extraordinary event, as such old documents are presented only rarely," said Jana Kopeckova from the regional archive in Plzen.

The opening ceremony on 18 August will be attended by Papal Nuncio Diego Causero and Interior Minister Frantisek Bublan. A total of 23 parchment sheets and an item known as Hroznata's Bowl, will be on display in Tepla for four days.

Hroznata was a nobleman who established the monastery's foundation. According to a legend, the builders of the monastery took their daily pay from the bowl, in which coins mysteriously re-appeared each day. Everyone took a sum corresponding to the work he had accomplished during the day, the legend says. [continue]
